Job Overview

Chandra Technologies is hiring an experienced Senior Mainframe COBOL Developer to support the State of South Carolina on a 12-month contract. This opportunity is ideal for seasoned mainframe professionals with extensive experience in COBOL development, Medicaid systems, and enterprise application support. Candidates with previous State Government or Medicaid project experience are highly preferred.

In this role, you will develop and maintain mission-critical Mainframe COBOL and CA-ADS applications supporting Medicaid MMIS and MEDS systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional development, quality assurance, operations, and business teams to deliver reliable, scalable, and high-quality software solutions while ensuring compliance with government technology standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance Mainframe COBOL and CA-ADS applications.
  • Support Medicaid MMIS and MEDS systems through coding enhancements and maintenance.
  • Work extensively with IDMS Network and Relational Databases.
  • Analyze technical specifications and design efficient software solutions.
  • Perform debugging, unit testing, integration testing, and production support.
  • Assist Quality Assurance (QA), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and External Testing teams.
  • Collaborate with developers, business analysts, QA teams, and operations personnel.
  • Participate in rotational on-call production support.
  • Ensure timely project delivery while maintaining high software quality standards.
  • Document technical changes and support ongoing system improvements.

Requirements & Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).

Experience

  • 10+ years of Mainframe Development experience.
  • 10+ years of MVS COBOL experience.
  • 10+ years of IDMS experience.
  • 10+ years of CA-ADS experience.
  • 5+ years of JCL experience.
  • Experience supporting State Government or Medicaid projects is highly preferred.
