Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Cyber Security Site Engineer for a permanent opportunity in Muscat, Oman. The role focuses on operational technology (OT), industrial control systems, power systems, and cybersecurity across critical infrastructure environments. Candidates must have mandatory experience working within OT or power systems environments and strong practical exposure to industrial and SCADA cybersecurity.

The successful candidate will support cybersecurity implementation and site delivery across grid stations, substations, power utilities, oil and gas facilities, and other critical infrastructure environments. Responsibilities include OT architecture, network segmentation, electronic security perimeters, vulnerability assessment, asset monitoring, security testing, FAT and SAT activities, and coordination with vendors and project stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and support cybersecurity solutions within OT and power systems environments.
• Work with SCADA, DCS, substation automation, and IEC 61850 architectures.
• Design and implement network segmentation using zones and conduits.
• Configure and maintain Electronic Security Perimeters (ESP).
• Support firewalls, Active Directory, endpoint protection, and related security controls.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments and support remediation activities.
• Perform asset discovery, monitoring, and cybersecurity visibility activities.
• Work with OT security monitoring platforms, including Nozomi where applicable.
• Apply IEC 62443 and NERC CIP concepts within relevant project environments.
• Execute, witness, and document Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
• Support cybersecurity testing, commissioning, and site delivery activities.
• Coordinate with technology vendors, contractors, engineering teams, and project stakeholders.
• Prepare and maintain cybersecurity documentation, technical reports, and compliance records.
• Support implementation of cybersecurity requirements across critical infrastructure projects.
• Identify and troubleshoot OT cybersecurity issues during site activities.
• Ensure cybersecurity controls and project deliverables meet applicable technical and compliance requirements.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Cyber Security, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 5–8 years of professional experience in OT, industrial, or SCADA cybersecurity.
• Mandatory experience working in OT or power systems environments.
• Minimum 3 years of site-based experience in one or more of the following:
  • Grid stations or substations
  • Power utilities
  • Oil and gas
  • Critical infrastructure
• Strong knowledge of OT architectures, including SCADA, DCS, substation automation, and IEC 61850.
• Experience with network segmentation, zones, conduits, and Electronic Security Perimeters.
• Knowledge of firewalls, Active Directory, and endpoint protection.
• Experience with vulnerability assessment and remediation.
• Experience with asset discovery and monitoring; Nozomi experience is preferred.
• Understanding of IEC 62443 and NERC CIP concepts.
• Experience executing or witnessing FAT and SAT activities.
• Strong vendor coordination, documentation, compliance, and cybersecurity testing skills.

Preferred Certifications

• IEC 62443 Foundation Specialist or Risk Assessment Specialist.
• CompTIA Security+ or CySA+.
• CEH.
• CISM.
• CISSP.
• GICSP.
• OT security certifications from Nozomi, Fortinet, Palo Alto, Cisco, or Microsoft.
