Job Overview

A leading organization is hiring an experienced Database Administrator for an onsite position in Dubai, UAE. The role is responsible for maintaining the availability, performance, security, maintenance, patching, backup coordination, and recovery readiness of enterprise databases within a managed infrastructure environment.

The Database Administrator will work across database administration, performance monitoring, troubleshooting, security, backup and recovery, replication, disaster recovery, and capacity planning. The role requires close collaboration with application, operating-system, storage, network, security, and vendor teams to maintain reliable database services.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer supported enterprise database platforms.
• Perform database installation, configuration, maintenance, and routine administration.
• Monitor database availability, performance, sessions, storage, logs, and resource utilization.
• Troubleshoot database incidents, performance degradation, failed jobs, and connectivity issues.
• Perform database patching and approved minor-version updates.
• Conduct database health checks and preventive-maintenance activities.
• Manage database users, roles, permissions, and privileged access according to security policies.
• Apply database-hardening and security-configuration standards.
• Support vulnerability remediation and compliance reviews.
• Coordinate database backups, retention, replication, and recovery with the backup team.
• Conduct and document database restore and recovery tests.
• Support database replication and synchronization between production and disaster-recovery environments.
• Participate in disaster-recovery drills and database failover testing.
• Perform capacity planning for database storage, memory, compute, and transaction growth.
• Maintain database runbooks, configuration records, patch records, and recovery procedures.
• Support root-cause analysis for database-related major incidents.
• Coordinate with application, operating-system, storage, network, security, and vendor teams.
• Prepare database availability, performance, capacity, patching, backup, and security reports.

Requirements & Qualifications

• 7–9 years of professional experience.
• Strong experience administering enterprise relational database platforms.
• Knowledge of database backup, recovery, replication, and high-availability technologies.
• Experience in database performance tuning and troubleshooting.
• Strong understanding of SQL, database security, access control, and auditing.
• Experience with database patching and minor-version upgrades.
• Knowledge of Linux and Windows operating environments.
• Understanding of RPO, RTO, high availability, and disaster recovery.
• Experience working under formal incident, problem, and change-management processes.
• Ability to provide on-call support when required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Relevant Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or other database certification.
• ITIL Foundation certification.
• Experience with databases hosted on Nutanix infrastructure.
• Experience supporting government, financial, or other regulated environments.
