Job Overview

We are seeking a Senior Java Developer to support a live Java and Spring Boot backend environment in Dubai. This is a 6-month contract with a possibility of extension, focused on delivering bug fixes, new features, and critical performance and scalability improvements as application data volumes increase.

The successful candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, PostgreSQL, and Redis, with particular expertise in database tuning, caching strategies, debugging, performance profiling, and production-scale optimization. The role requires a developer capable of improving application latency, throughput, and database performance within a live production environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Java and Spring Boot backend applications.
• Deliver bug fixes and new backend features in a live production environment.
• Optimize application performance as data volumes increase.
• Perform PostgreSQL schema, indexing, and query optimization.
• Analyze and tune PostgreSQL database performance.
• Design and optimize Redis caching strategies.
• Configure and manage Redis TTL and eviction policies.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues and application bottlenecks.
• Conduct performance profiling and identify optimization opportunities.
• Improve application latency and throughput.
• Reduce database load through application and database optimization.
• Support production scaling initiatives.
• Monitor application performance and reliability.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum development and delivery activities.
• Collaborate with technical teams to implement scalable backend solutions.

Requirements & Qualifications

• 4–6+ years of experience in Java/Spring Boot development; 8+ years preferred.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Mandatory hands-on experience with PostgreSQL.
• Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL:
  • Schema design and optimization
  • Indexing
  • Query optimization
  • Database performance tuning
• Mandatory hands-on experience with Redis.
• Strong understanding of:
  • Caching strategies
  • TTL configuration
  • Eviction policies
• Proven experience with production scaling and performance optimization.
• Strong debugging and performance profiling capabilities.
• Experience improving application latency, throughput, and database load.
• Experience working in live production environments.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum delivery methodologies.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work onsite in Dubai.
• Immediate availability is strongly preferred, particularly for candidates already based in the UAE.
