Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Technology Lead – Azure Data Engineer to join a data engineering team supporting modern cloud-based data processing solutions in Romania. This hybrid opportunity is available in Bucharest, Timisoara, Cluj, and Sibiu, with employees expected to work onsite 2–3 days per week.

The role focuses on designing, developing, and managing robust and reliable data processing solutions using Azure Databricks, Python, PySpark, and SQL. The successful candidate will work with both streaming and batch data, design appropriate data models, manage parallel data processes, and contribute to scalable data engineering architectures.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and manage robust data processing solutions using Azure Databricks.
• Build scalable data pipelines using Python and PySpark.
• Develop and optimize SQL-based data processing solutions.
• Design and implement data processing workflows for both streaming and batch data.
• Design appropriate and scalable data models within Databricks.
• Manage multiple parallel data processes operating on shared source data.
• Implement reliable and maintainable cloud-based data engineering solutions.
• Work with Azure cloud services and develop CI/CD pipelines using YAML.
• Implement Infrastructure as Code using ARM and Bicep.
• Follow Agile development and delivery practices.
• Collaborate with data engineers, technology teams, architects, and other stakeholders.
• Contribute to broader end-to-end data solution design and implementation.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Strong, hands-on experience with Azure Databricks.
• Deep expertise in Python, PySpark, and SQL.
• Proven experience designing and managing data processing solutions in Databricks.
• Strong experience handling both streaming and batch data.
• Experience designing data models within Databricks.
• Experience managing multiple parallel data processes using shared source data.
• Solid experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services.
• Experience developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using YAML.
• Practical experience with Infrastructure as Code using ARM and/or Bicep.
• Experience working in Agile environments.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Broader understanding of end-to-end data solutions is preferred.
• Candidates must currently be based in Romania.
