Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Testing & Commissioning Engineer to support electrical infrastructure and utility projects across the UAE. The role is responsible for leading testing and commissioning activities for electrical systems up to 33kV, ensuring that equipment and systems are properly tested, commissioned, documented, and compliant with project requirements.

The position requires strong hands-on experience with HV, MV, and LV electrical systems, switchgear, transformers, protection systems, and numerical protection relays. The successful candidate will work closely with project teams, clients, consultants, and TAQA while ensuring compliance with IEC standards, electrical safety regulations, commissioning procedures, and HSE requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute testing and commissioning activities for electrical systems up to 33kV.
  • Conduct pre-commissioning and commissioning of switchgear, transformers, RMUs, control panels, cables, CTs, VTs, and circuit breakers.
  • Configure, test, and verify numerical protection relays.
  • Perform insulation resistance, continuity, injection, transformer, and cable testing.
  • Coordinate commissioning activities with project teams, clients, consultants, and TAQA.
  • Prepare detailed test reports, commissioning records, and technical documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, IEC standards, electrical safety requirements, and HSE procedures.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues to support timely project completion.
  • Interpret single-line diagrams, electrical schematics, and technical specifications during testing and commissioning activities.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 7–8 years of relevant experience in electrical testing and commissioning up to 33kV.
  • TAQA Competency Certificate is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of HV, MV, and LV electrical systems, switchgear, and protection systems.
  • Hands-on experience with numerical protection relay testing and commissioning.
  • Practical experience testing and commissioning transformers, power cables, CTs, VTs, circuit breakers, RMUs, and control panels.
  • Ability to read and interpret SLDs, electrical schematics, and technical specifications.
  • Good knowledge of IEC standards, electrical safety regulations, commissioning procedures, and HSE requirements.
  • Strong troubleshooting, technical reporting, communication, and coordination skills.
  • Immediate availability is preferred.
