Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to develop scalable and reliable data solutions supporting healthcare analytics. This contract opportunity is designed for a senior data engineering professional with strong hands-on expertise in Microsoft Azure, Databricks, PySpark, Python, SQL, and modern cloud data platforms.

The successful candidate will build and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines, develop Lakehouse and Delta Lake architectures, and work with complex healthcare datasets including Electronic Health Records (EHR), claims, FHIR, and HL7 data. The role will also contribute to machine learning and predictive analytics initiatives while ensuring strong standards for data quality, security, governance, and HIPAA compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Build, develop, and optimize scalable ETL/ELT data pipelines using Azure Databricks, PySpark, Synapse, and Azure Data Factory.
• Design and implement modern Lakehouse and Delta Lake solutions for enterprise data platforms.
• Develop data solutions for healthcare datasets, including EHR, claims, FHIR, and HL7.
• Support machine learning and predictive analytics initiatives through reliable data pipelines and platforms.
• Implement data quality, security, governance, and HIPAA compliance practices.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD and DevOps processes for data engineering workflows.
• Monitor data pipelines and troubleshoot performance, reliability, and operational issues.
• Optimize data processing and cloud-based data engineering workloads.
• Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, software engineers, and healthcare technology teams.
• Contribute to scalable and maintainable enterprise data architecture.
• Ensure data solutions meet performance, security, reliability, and governance requirements.

Requirements & Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional Data Engineering experience with Microsoft Azure.
• Strong hands-on experience with Azure Databricks.
• Advanced experience with Apache Spark and PySpark.
• Strong Python and SQL programming skills.
• Experience with Azure Data Factory (ADF).
• Experience with Azure Synapse Analytics.
• Experience with Azure Data Lake and Azure SQL.
• Strong understanding of Delta Lake and Lakehouse Architecture.
• Required experience working with healthcare data.
• Required knowledge of FHIR and HL7.
• Experience implementing CI/CD practices and cloud-based data engineering workflows.
• Strong understanding of data quality, security, governance, and HIPAA compliance.
• Knowledge of machine learning and predictive analytics is preferred.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills.
