Job Overview

A leading enterprise cybersecurity team in Doha, Qatar is seeking an experienced Detection Engineering Consultant to strengthen its cyber defense capabilities. This six-month contract, with the possibility of extension based on project requirements, is ideal for cybersecurity professionals with strong expertise in SIEM engineering, threat detection, detection use case development, and security operations.

The successful candidate will design, implement, and optimize advanced detection capabilities, improve security monitoring, and enhance enterprise threat detection strategies. Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop detection engineering use cases for enterprise security monitoring.
• Build and optimize SIEM detection rules using Splunk Enterprise Security (ES) or FortiSIEM.
• Develop and maintain SPL (Search Processing Language) queries.
• Implement detection strategies aligned with the MITRE ATT&CK Framework.
• Perform alert tuning and reduce false positives.
• Integrate threat intelligence feeds and Indicators of Compromise (IOCs).
• Implement Risk-Based Alerting (RBA) methodologies.
• Support Detection-as-Code and detection use case lifecycle management.
• Analyze security incidents and enterprise log data.
• Collaborate with SOC, incident response, and cybersecurity teams to improve detection capabilities.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
• 6+ years of professional cybersecurity experience.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in Detection Engineering, SIEM Engineering, or Senior SOC Operations.
• Strong experience with Splunk Enterprise Security (ES) or FortiSIEM.
• Expertise in Detection Engineering and SIEM rule development.
• Advanced knowledge of SPL (Search Processing Language).
• Strong understanding of the MITRE ATT&CK Framework.
• Experience with threat intelligence integration and IOC management.
• Knowledge of Detection-as-Code and use case lifecycle management.
• Strong understanding of security monitoring, incident response, and threat detection.
• Experience in an MSSP environment is highly preferred.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Certifications

• Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)
• CompTIA Security+ or equivalent Blue Team certification
• CCSP or CCSE
• SIEM-related certifications
