Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior AI Architect to lead the design and implementation of enterprise-scale Generative AI and agentic AI solutions. This onsite opportunity in Chicago, Illinois is ideal for technology leaders with extensive experience in artificial intelligence architecture, large language models (LLMs), cloud platforms, and enterprise software engineering. The successful candidate will play a key role in defining scalable AI architectures, enabling intelligent automation, and driving innovation across business functions.
The AI Architect will collaborate with executive stakeholders, engineering teams, quality assurance, security, compliance, and business leaders to develop AI-powered solutions that align with enterprise objectives. The role involves architecting LLM-driven workflows, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems, agent frameworks, and secure AI platforms while ensuring governance, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
- Translate business challenges into scalable AI and agent-driven solution architectures.
- Design enterprise reference architectures for single-agent, multi-agent, hierarchical, and tool-based AI systems.
- Develop LLM-driven workflows incorporating reasoning, planning, memory management, APIs, and human-in-the-loop processes.
- Architect Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions using enterprise data, vector databases, and knowledge retrieval systems.
- Collaborate with business executives and stakeholders to identify strategic AI opportunities.
- Establish AI governance frameworks addressing safety, bias mitigation, explainability, auditability, and regulatory compliance.
- Define lifecycle management standards for AI model development, deployment, monitoring, testing, and retirement.
- Work closely with engineering, quality engineering, legal, security, and risk management teams to ensure enterprise readiness.
- Develop standards for AI validation, certification, and ethical deployment.
- Optimize AI platform scalability, performance, observability, resilience, and operational efficiency.
- Support client engagements, solution presentations, RFP responses, and AI strategy discussions.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship across enterprise AI initiatives.
Requirements & Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence, Engineering, or a related discipline.
Experience
- 14–18+ years of professional experience in software engineering, solution architecture, or enterprise technology.
- 3–5+ years of hands-on experience building Generative AI and Large Language Model (LLM)-based solutions.
Technical Skills
- Deep expertise in Large Language Models (LLMs), prompt engineering, and reasoning frameworks.
- Experience with agentic AI frameworks such as LangGraph, AutoGen, CrewAI, Semantic Kernel, or similar orchestration platforms.
- Strong knowledge of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), embeddings, vector databases, and knowledge grounding.
- Experience with fine-tuning methodologies including LoRA and QLoRA.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, APIs, microservices, and cloud-native application architecture.
- Proficiency in Python programming.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Knowledge of enterprise observability, monitoring, security, and AI platform cost optimization.
